Nanjing Nightlife near Fuzimiao Confucius Temple – China Tours and Travel Attractions

I have written quite a few posts about Nanjing city (Jiangsu, China). In this post I’ll be sharing with you my experiences about Nanjing nightlife revolving around the Fuzimiao street. The street hosts a variety of popular China travel attractions. In fact, the street is very famous – partly due to the presence of the Confucius Temple where one can also get to know the Chinese philosophy better, including the Analects of Confucius.

I feel that although Suzhou as a very unique nightlife, the taste in Nanjing is altogether very different. In fact, Nanjing nightlife seems to be much more inspiring than those in  Hefei or Changzhou.

I’d urge you to bring a good camera to Nanjing to capture beautiful photos. Anyways, I’ll be showing you photos from my collection that I clicked in Nanjing.

Shopping in Nanjing

The Fuzimiao street is busy throughout the day and the crowd continues to flock until 10pm. There are so many shops, restaurants, temples, etc. at a stone throw away from one another. In fact, in general, Chinese cities are the shopping paradise, so is Nanjing.

Boat trip – Qin Huai River cruise

As mentioned in my previous post, make sure to hop onto the night cruise in Qin Huai River. The scenic ride would cost you RMB 80 (can be paid by cash, Alipay or WeChat).

I took the cruise ride and recorded a video as we sailed into the river. Check out this one-

Walk in Fuzimiao street

The street never fails to amaze.

A simple walk in the Fuzimiao street itself could be a wonderful experience. Grab a glass of pearl milk tea for RMB 10 from a nearby stall as you continue to explore the street.

Eat delicious Nanjing food

I’d say avoid eating pizza, burger, etc. in Nanjing and rather try local Chinese food in Nanjing – you’d love them. Don’t forget to eat/buy local Nanjing snacks, such as Nanjing Dried Salted Duck, Vermicelli Soup and Tang Bao – they are all available in the Fuzimiao street.

Watch plays

On the river bank (along the street) on Monday evening I saw quite a few Chinese folk plays. The dance is amazing, the language is Mandarin, and we can see only from the far. You can stand near the Wende bridge and watch the plays for free.

Unfortunately, there was no such play on the next two days of my trip.

Fuzimiao Confucius Temple

The famous temple is a great place to experience ancient Chinese culture and philosophy. I’d recommend visiting the temple in both day and night. The temple ticket (RMB 50) could be used any number of times (on the day you buy), so you can use the same ticket in the night as well.

  2. The life of Confucius (and Confucius facts for kids, other facts about Confucius life)
  3. Why is Confucius famous – you’ll see his work

Confucius facts for kids

Confucius lived in China around 2500 years ago. There was no school, no university, no internet, and of course no mobile phones. So how did Confucius learn?

Well, during his formative years, Confucius mostly learned from his parents. Confucius firmly believed in the role of human behavior orchestrating human life.

You should also check out the places nearby Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre. The memorial is closed during the night, but the night views of the nearby area are quite nice.

In summary, I quite liked the Nightlife scene in the city. If you have enough time in Nanjing, do stop by the Fuzimiao street, you’ll love the wandering over here.
