Skyline Gondola Queenstown New Zealand – A memorable cable car ride.

New Zealand is all about the scenery! No matter where you go in New Zealand; you are bound to see the beautiful natural scenery. Queenstown is not an exception. The scenery, especially in Queenstown, looks amazing from the mountain top. In fact, if you are heading to the South Island, a ride to the Skyline Gondola Queenstown is a must! The famous cable car ride offers you the best views of the Queenstown downtown area. You will also get a chance to see the Bob’s Peak. It’s refreshing to come up and explore the breathtaking views.

In this post I will be taking you the virtual ride of the Queenstown’s famous cable car.

The gondola is located just by the side of the Central Business District (CBD). You can walk to the gondola in a few minutes from the CBD.

Queenstown New Zealand activities

There are so many things to do in Queenstown. A gondola ride is a very important part of Queenstown activities. Once you reach the Bob’s Peak, you can try the Skyline Queenstown Luge. The Luge track is nearly 800m long. For the updated details, you should check out the official website.

Skyline tickets and fee

You have to pay NZ $35 for a return skyline ticket. One way tickets are not being sold (I don’t know why). There is also an option to buy a family ticket (return). You can find the latest skyline gondola ticket price on the website. You also have an option to climb up and downhill for free.

Skyline views

You’d love the views from the Bob’s Peak! The Queenstown Gardens and Queenstown Golf Course look stunning from the top. The views of the CBD area (although not very big) look fascinating. Here is the proof –

Bob’s Peak at Skyline Gondola Queenstown

The Bob’s Peak is located on the 450 metres above the Queenstown. The easiest way to get to the peak is take a Gondola ride. The cable car is considered to be the steepest in the southern hemisphere.

Another way to reach the peak is by hiking on the Tiki Trail. However, the climb would consume you an hour or so. There is no fee if you hike to the peak.

The gondola offers you an opportunity to try one of the Queenstown’s famous sports- Skyline luge Queenstown. It’s a fun adventure activity. There are separate tracks for the luge rides. The luge tracks are very scenic. You have an option to buy the luge ticket combined with your gondola ride ticket (before you start an uphill ride). However, if you buy the luge ticket on Bob’s Peak, it’s going to be expensive.

After you reach the Bob’s peak, you can visit the Bike Park. The park offers New Zealand’s famous mountain biking challenge.

You have to cover a distance of approximately 30km by a bike ride. There are 3 separate mountain bike trails – beginner, intermediate, and expert tracks.

SKYLINE Gondola Stratosfare Restaurant

To cater your hunger needs, there is this restaurant on the Bob’s Peak offering delicious food. I will link the skyline catering menu for your reference. You can find the updated pricing details in the skyline catering menu. You can buy a meal plan as a part of your gondola ticket. Again, if you buy a meal after reaching the top, it’s going to be slightly more expensive. Eating in the Skyline Queenstown restaurant, while looking at Queenstown Bay, is really a memorable experience.
